Security

Defence in depth, from key generation to settlement.

Four independent controls stand between an instruction and the blockchain. Break one and the assets still do not move.

  1. 01

    Key generation

Keys are born inside certified hardware and immediately split into MPC shards. No person or machine ever holds a whole key.

  2. 02

    Policy engine

Every request is measured against spending limits, allow-lists, time locks and travel-rule checks before it can be signed.

  3. 03

    Quorum approval

Your team approves from hardware devices or passkeys. Thresholds are enforced on-chain and off, with a full audit trail.

  4. 04

    Signed settlement

Transactions are simulated against live state, threshold-signed, then broadcast with private routing to avoid front-running.

MPC and multi-signature

Threshold signing across geographically separated shards, with multi-sig and hardware wallets supported on every network.

Hardware isolation

Signing material never leaves FIPS 140-2 Level 3 HSMs housed in tier-4 facilities with biometric access control.

Programmable policy

Per-wallet limits, allow-listed counterparties, time-delayed withdrawals and role-based approvals you configure yourself.

Transaction simulation

Each transaction is dry-run against forked chain state, so drained approvals and malicious calldata are blocked before signing.

24/7 monitoring

Anomaly detection on every address, sanctions screening on every counterparty and a security team on call around the clock.

Insured cold storage

Deep cold reserves are held with a qualified custodian and covered by up to $500M of specie and crime insurance.

Independently verified

We publish what auditors find. Reports, reserve attestations and incident history are available to every client under NDA.

  • SOC 2 Type II Renewed August 2026
  • ISO 27001:2022 Certified since 2021
  • Penetration tests Quarterly, by two independent firms
  • Proof of reserves Merkle attestation every 30 days
Custody

One account for a hundred chains.

Stop reconciling a dozen wallets and three spreadsheets. Every asset, every network and every approval lives in one auditable place.

  • Segregated wallets per fund, desk or client, with reporting that maps to your chart of accounts.
  • Qualified custody or self-custody — the same policy engine and audit trail either way.
  • Role-based approvals with hardware keys, passkeys and mandatory dual control on withdrawals.
  • Real-time balances, cost basis and exportable statements for finance, audit and tax.
See what your assets can earn

Qualified custody

Assets held by a regulated trust company, insured and bankruptcy remote.

Self custody

You hold the shards. We provide the policy, signing and monitoring layer.

Instant settlement

Internal transfers settle off-chain in under a second with zero network fees.

API and webhooks

REST and gRPC APIs, signed webhooks and SDKs for TypeScript, Python and Go.

Staking

Put idle treasury to work, without giving up the keys.

Delegate to our validators or bring your own. Slashing protection, redundant infrastructure and reporting your auditor will accept.

Assets never leave custody

Staking is delegated from your custody wallet. Withdrawal keys stay in the same MPC vault the whole time.

Redundant validators

Bare-metal validators in three regions with automated failover, remote signing and anti-slashing protection.

Known payout, known date

Every position states its rate, its term and its exact payout up front, so finance can book the yield the day it is opened.

Rates shown are the fixed annual rates currently offered and are locked in when a position is opened. Rewards are paid in full at maturity. Digital assets are volatile and staked balances are locked for the length of the term, with an early exit penalty where one is permitted.

How it works

Live in a day, not a quarter.

Onboarding is guided by a named solutions engineer, with a sandbox and test networks available from the first call.

  1. 01 Connect

Import existing wallets or generate new MPC vaults. Balances across every supported chain appear in minutes.

  2. 02 Set policy

Define who can move what, to where, and how many approvals it takes. Policy is enforced before a signature exists.

  3. 03 Operate

Trade, stake, settle and report — with every action simulated, signed by threshold and written to an immutable log.

FAQ

The questions your risk committee will ask.

Who actually holds the private keys?

Nobody holds a complete key. Keys are generated inside an HSM and immediately split into MPC shards distributed across independent environments. Signing happens collaboratively, so a full key never exists in memory, on disk or in a backup.

What happens to my assets if LedgerDefense disappears?

Every client receives an encrypted recovery kit and can reconstruct their wallets with a third-party recovery partner using open-source tooling. Qualified custody balances are held bankruptcy-remote by a regulated trust company.

Can I keep my own hardware wallets?

Yes. Ledger, Trezor and enterprise HSMs can be added as co-signers, and passkeys can be used for approvals. The policy engine, monitoring and reporting apply regardless of where a key lives.

How do you stop a compromised employee device?

Single approvals cannot move funds. Withdrawals require a quorum from separate devices, are checked against allow-lists and spending limits, and can be held behind a time lock that gives your security team a window to cancel.

Is staking custodial?

No. Delegation happens from your own vault, and withdrawal credentials stay under your MPC policy. We operate the validators and carry slashing cover, but we never take possession of the stake.

Which reports can I share with auditors?

SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 reports, quarterly penetration-test summaries, monthly proof-of-reserves attestations and a complete signed transaction log exportable as CSV or through the API.
